Mexico Tourism Board increases efforts to win meetings and events from Europe and celebrates opening of new office in Brussels

With 2 special events in Barcelona and Brussels – hosting European MICE and congress planners and media – Mexico Tourism Board recently celebrated the opening of their new office in Brussels, responsible for the promotion of congresses and corporate events to Mexico.

Ms. Virginia Aranja, Director of Association Meetings of Mexico Tourism Board introduced herself and the newly opened office to association planners and media in Brussels on December 4 in the Conrad hotel. Mexico has a lot to offer to organizers of global congresses and takes great efforts in service and infrastructure to win the European market. The audience attending the event was impressed by the professional presentation and enjoyed Mexican snacks and a tasting of fine Tequilas, proposed by José Cuervo, the famous Tequila brand. Mexico Tourism Board and their partners Tropical Incentives DMC and Air France sponsored trips to Cancun, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta and Mexico City during a raffle.

The week before a reception was held at the Mexico Embassy in Barcelona, on occasion of EIBTM tradeshow. The feeling of a tropical garden – at later hour cooled down by a bit of unusual Barcelona rainfall – and a group of Mariachis dressed all in pristine white suits, welcomed the guests and succeeded to transport the Mexican feeling. tmf dialogue marketing as partner of Tourism Mexico for promotion in the MICE segment has promoted both events through creating a hybrid environment including blog posts, microsite, emailings and social media communication both to planners as well as to media.

Please see some pictures of the event on the website of the local organizing partner of Mexico Tourism, the business city magazine.

Edinburgh Military Tattoo to celebrate Year of Natural Scotland

The line-up for next year’s Edinburgh Military Tattoo has been unveiled as tickets go on sale next week.

The theme will be landscape and wildlife to celebrate the Year of Natural Scotland.

The 64th show will feature the Aguiluchos Marching Band from Puebla in Mexico for the first time. Performing Mariachi music, the 100-strong band will play on the castle’s esplanade accompanied by folk dancers.

Also starring in the Tattoo will be motorcycle display team the Imps, the New Zealand Army Band, the Lochiel Marching Drill Team, Band of the Irish Guards, the Band of the Royal Logistic Corps and their Corps of Drums, and the Band and Bugles of the Rifles.

As usual, the Massed Pipes and Drums will open the show.

Producer Brigadier David Allfrey said: “We have an astonishing show in production. We have a wonderfully strong representation from the United Kingdom Armed Forces and from our friends around the world. We reach out in equal measure East and West.

“I am delighted we are taking part in the Year of Natural Scotland and can contribute to showcasing Scotland’s extraordinary landscape, flora and fauna. As ever, the show will follow a traditional format but there will be twists and turns. We can start from the beginnings of life in the cooling dust of an Edinburgh volcano and carry the story right up to the Monarch of the Glen.

“It is a great Scottish show and I would encourage folk from Edinburgh and across Scotland to come and see. Our show is not just for the visitors. There is something in the Tattoo for everyone.”

The Edinburgh Military Tattoo will take place between August 2 and 24 next year and tickets go on sale on Monday.

IVI Destination Management – a DMC that makes a difference

Incentives and Vacations International (IVI), later renamed to IVI Destination Management was founded in 1986 in Cancun by Jose Manuel Garcia because he and his associates saw a need for a company specializing in high quality professional services for groups visiting the destination. Their small office in Cancun has grown to become a network of IVI offices throughout the Americas. As a pioneer in the group business in Mexico, IVI was the first to feature staff members in uniform to make it easier for clients to recognize them and to make use of high tech tools.

To make the clients goals their own goals, extending services to new destinations and exceeding industry standards and customer expectations are IVI´s keys to success. Various certifications (DIN ISO 9001, ADMC) prove that high quality standards are kept.

In 2005 IVI Destination Management initiated a truly innovative project: the Friends of the Maya foundation, creating unique give back programs that offer lasting and immediate improvement to the Maya communities.
