We’ve just come across an interesting article in The Huffington Post. Its headline “Lithuania is great again… for doing business” immediately fell into our eyes as this topic is perfectly related to what we’re currently trying to show – namely the local knowledge of Vilnius and how it is connected to the meetings industry.

The author of the article, Tomas Laurinavicius, demonstrates that the Baltic countries Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia clearly offer great advantages for business due to taxation, huge talent potential, government support and liberal policies, business-friendly regulations, active venture capital industry, vibrant tech culture and much more. So, it’s not a surprise that you can find there many well-known and global brands including Skype, Google, Barclays, Western Union, Uber, Nasdaq, etc. Startups are also successively choosing the Baltic countries to build their businesses.
(During our visit in Vilnius, we’ve talked to many important figures in the business sector – so more about theses topics in later articles!!)

From the Baltic countries, it’s especially Lithuania that ranks among the fastest growing economies in Europe, with GDP figures far above that of other European economies. Now, according to Bloomberg Innovation Index 2017, Lithuania is ahead of the other two Baltic States as one of the world’s most innovative economies. The country is also ranked among the top 30 countries in Doing Business Index on the basis of the World Bank. Furthermore, the prestigious American business magazine Forbes has ranked Lithuania 15th globally in its annual Best countries for Business List.

In the upcoming weeks, you can read interesting interviews with Vilnius’ Mayor Remigijus Simasius, representatives of Vilnius Airport, Hotel Association and Invest Lithuania. We also talked to researchers at the university of Vilnius, met with investors and start-ups and many, many more.

Get inspired, feel some of the passion and engagement of all these stakeholders and plan your next conference or congress in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania to experience the spirit first-hand!
