According to the Milan Chamber of Commerce, the city’s hotel rooms this year have been in high demand, registering between 60 and 70% occupancy (one and a half million people) in the first three months of 2016. This is a much higher percentage than in other Italian cities like Rome, Florence and Venice. The figures are also better compared to many foreign cities, for example, Paris, Moscow and Beijing. These numbers are even higher than the record figures from last year.
The business tourism sector is strong and a further leisure component is increasingly added to business trips. Many of the business travellers are staying over the weekend to relax and enjoy all the possibilities that the city offers both from a cultural perspective and for specific events.
