The Lithuanian State Department is responsible for the implementation of national tourism marketing and marketing activities. The main three fields of marketing activities are as follows: increasing the awareness of Lithuania in foreign markets, introducing its tourism products and building a positive brand image; increasing inbound tourism flows; encouraging domestic travel and reducing the influence of seasonability.

At IMEX they both exhibit together at stand number G250.

To get an insight into Lithuania as meeting destination, we talked with the representatives of the Lithuanian State Department of Tourism about their country.

1. What are you doing to create awareness of Lithuania as an attractive destination?

Lithuania has been ranked third in Top 10 Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2015, so at the latest we are actively communicating this message in all means of communication, international exhibitions, B2B and other events and as well, we constantly organise media tours for media representatives from all over the world travelling in Lithuania and highlighting our main touristic places and objects back at local media.

Our vision is to educate the travel industry and leisure traveller about Lithuania and what we have to offer as a new and still unseen destination. For increasing the awareness and attractiveness of Lithuania we constantly seek for the benevolent and constructive cooperation with municipalities, associated tourism business structures, diplomatic sector and the major players of the tourism market.

2. Could you please describe Lithuania in 5 words?

Rebellious, quirky, vibrant, unseen, hospitable…

3. What should every visitor see in Lithuania?

Do not skip Vilnius – the largest baroque old town in northern Europe. Not far away from Vilnius (28 km) there is a historic capital city of Lithuania – beautiful Trakai with the medieval castle, surrounded by lakes. Curonian Spit, Baltic coast with various unexpected amber impressions and the Hill of Crosses also definitely should be on Lithuania’s bucket list.
