The Slovenian city is nominated for WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Award in the category “Destination”. Thus, Ljubljana competes against two other destinations – Northeast and Yilan Coast (Taiwan) and Sozopol (Bulgaria). The finalists were selected by Tourism for Tomorrow judges.

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) awards those tourism destination organisations which showcase the commitment to supporting and delivering sustainable tourism best practices in their destinations.

Ljubljana is nominated due to various reasons:

WTTC promotes the very best in sustainable tourism through the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards in five different categories: Community, Destination, Environment, Innovation and People. Winners will be officially announced during the Awards Ceremony taking place in Madrid, Spain on 15th of April 2015 during WTTC’s Global Summit.
