What is so special about Sicily and its possibilities for winter incentives? How can Mount Etna be part of such an incentive? We have interviewed several Sicily Convention Bureau’s partners about their ideas for “warm up your incentive at Mount Etna”.
We are happy to present you another partner: the winery Cottanera, a little jewel of 100 hectacres. Of these, 65 hectares have been vineyarded. The company is located in Castiglione di Sicilia, near Catania, along with the winery, where all the phases of production are carried out, from harvesting to bottling. The vineyards grow over lava stone, 700 meters above the sea, on the northern slope of the volcano, a unique, precious and fascinating territory.
We have talked to Mariangela Cambria, one of the owners of Cottanera.
1. In your opinion, what are three unbeatable reasons for European event planners to organize winter incentives in Sicily?
In our opinion there are more than three reasons to visit Sicily. The tourists visiting the islands can find here different history, different food, different climate and different people. So, we think that a true description of Sicily would be to say that it is not an island but a continent, due to its diversity.
2. “Warm up your incentive at Mount Etna”: how can Mount Etna be part of a creative incentive program?
Etna is an “island in an island”, this meant that it is very different from the rest of Sicily.
Here you find a unique climate, a nature more green than in any other parts of Sicily and unique wines for the wine lovers.
Etna, also, is very close to Taormina, an ancient village full of tradition and history. Famous for the “dolce vita” of Sicily, for the Greek Theatre where the tourists can find nice restaurants, beautiful hotels and a good night life.
3. What is your personal tip for a unique program element of a winter incentives in Sicily?
When you come to Sicily and Mount Etna during the winter times, you have the chance to see both the snow and the sea because we are very close to Giardini Naxos, famous for its beautiful beaches. You should also visit the Etna villages such us Randazzo, Milo, Santa Venerina, Piedimonte, Linguaglossa. These villages are beautiful and full of history, rich in great churches of lava stone. In each of the villages you can find a special restaurant where traditional food is served.
