Based on a report on the website of the Slovenian Convention Bureau the country’s capital Ljubljana has been host for 2 medical congresses in the first week of September, which gathered together around 2100 medical scientists and other experts. One of the 2 European events covered anaesthesia and pain therapy, while the other one covered dementia.
ESRA is the largest congress in Ljubljana and Slovenia this year and its 1500 delegates were accommodated at GR – Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. The 25th Annual Conference of Alzheimer Europe brought together 550 delegates at the CD Congress Centre Ljubljana.
Being European Green Capital in 2016, Ljubljana continuously practices sustainability in the city and offers and promotes healthy and sustainable activities for meetings. So, besides the great scientific progress and immense knowledge passed among attendees, a very important aspect of the congresses was the sustainable way in which they took place.
For example, using “Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body” as a motto, ESRA delegates participated in an early morning run in the Trivoli Park, boosting their energy levels before the meetings. Together with their caregivers, a group of dementia patients were guests at the Annual Conference of Alzheimer as well, making thus the event’s scientific discoveries and research merge with real life situations. Some of the patients were offered rides in the Old Town of Ljubljana with Kavalir electric vehicles.
The Ljubljana Convention Bureau team offered their full support and made sure everything runs smoothly from the early preparation stages up to the final moments of these two important events.
