Last week, 20-21 January, Conventa, the 8th New Europe Exhibition for Meetings, Events and Incentives”, took place in Ljubljana. On the first day of the show, a press conference was held by exhibition director Miha Kovačič, head of marketing Gorazd Čad and Tatjana Radovič, Congress Manager at Ljubljana Tourism & Convention Bureau.
This year 149 meeting providers from 14 destinations, mostly coming from Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Turkey and Serbia were exhibiting, while meeting planners attending the show as hosted buyers were coming from a record number of 33 countries. More than 3,000 meetings took place during the exhibition, Miha Kovačič told the press and added: “Meetings between buyers and sellers are the heart of Conventa.”
Miha Kovačič also mentioned that 90 % of all planners come for the first time to Conventa, which marks a huge difference to other exhibitions. The quality is high and the response good. The exhibition director highlighted: “Conventa’s aim is not to grow in size, but to grow in quality.”
He further explained that last year, the name “New Europe” was added to show the main idea of Conventa, namely to present the new meeting market, the new destinations. New at this edition: the cooperation with SITE Incentive Summit and the partnership with Turkish Airlines.
Ljubljana is partner of Conventa since its beginning. Tatjana Radovič emphasized the development and growing success of Conventa: “The brand has become more and more established”. She continued: “I like the personal touch of Conventa … it connects many cultures that have been living together in good and bad times.”
