The Qatar Tourism Authority is working hard to build a reputation in their local tourism and MICE markets. It understands the need to diversify its economy and is investing in the local infrastructure.
Among these, the building of a temperature-controlled stadium for the 2020 FIFA World Cup, £22bn on a new rail and metro system, £4,5bn on a port and £11bn on an airport. Also the country is at the moment forming a dedicated convention bureau that will work together with local MICE suppliers and represent Qatar as a world class congress destination.
