Slovenia enjoys great popularity among MICE planners and the number of meetings and events rises steadily. The Slovenian country is also an attractive destination for incentives and is so for many reasons.
Veitshöchheim/Germany, November 11, 2015 – Slovenia is a special country – it combines different regions in a nutshell – like hardly to be found in any other country: the Mediterranean region, the Karst, the Alpes, the cities and the spa and wellness regions. They all differ from each other in many ways which make them a great place for the MICE business. Especially the possibilities for incentives, both in summer and in winter, are immense.
Miha Kovacic, Director of Slovenian Convention Bureau, about incentives in Slovenia:
“Featuring three geographic, three climate but also three wine regions gives you endless opportunities. Adding 24 gastronomic regions makes it even more interesting topped by Slovenian hospitality that will make your incentives memorable.”
Planners often choose the winter months for incentive travels, as there are many options such as snowshoeing, sledding and ice-climbing. Those activities can be perfectly combined with a meeting or a workshop. Several members of the Slovenian Convention Bureau help in finding the right region and in creating the best programme. These are for example the DMCs Intours DMC, Kompas DMC, iDMC and Palma Tour Operator and DMC.
Alone in Central Slovenia region, where the alpine and Karst landscapes run together, one meets with natural and cultural peculiarities, which perfectly fit for incentive programmes. One place is the Velika Planina plateau, situated in the Kamnik Alps, where you can find a well-known ski centre. In Triglav National Park, organizers offer the “Search the Pokluka Bear”: equipped with snowshoes, hiking poles, tools for prevention against snow avalanches and a snow shovel, participants set out on a trip through the mountains, build an igloo, rescue victims of an avalanche and orient with modern GPS devices.
In the vicinity of Kranjska Gora, participants can go sledding on the forest paths and roads, where the paths will be enlightend through torches or floodlight. Another suggestion: an Eskimo Adventure with snowshoeing. A guide takes the guests across the slopes to the igloo village where they are served an Eskimo drink and a snack. Winter rafting on the Sava River, including a jump into ice cold water, dog sledding in the Logarska Dolina Valley or winter olympics where you have to solve tasks requiring perfect teamwork and much more is possible in Slovenia.
In Slovenian Convention Bureau’s official magazine “Slovenian Incentive Ideas Book”, a variety of ideas for summer and winter incentives are presented. Ljubljana Tourism/Convention Bureau also gives tips for incentives in Slovenia and has put them together in their catalogue “Tips for incentives”.
