Although the number of visitors and business volume has risen significantly in 2016, the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) has made a major step towards sustainability and environmental protection. This was confirmed by the centre’s sixth CSR report, which was presented in Barcelona these days.

The CCIB is aware of the environmental impacts of its activities (use of power and materials, waste generated and movement of people) and is therefore boosting its actions for sustainability and food safety. The venue is in the process of implementing ISO 20121 Sustainable Event Management and ISO 22000 Food Safety Management certifications.

Noteworthy indicators from the CCIB environmental policy include the increase in percentage of waste recycled (47%) and the decrease in paper (-8.5%) and power (-9.13%) used per attendee. In addition, the 12 largest suppliers have CSR policies and certifications in line with the CCIB philosophy.
