Two weeks ago, the Union of International Associations (UIA) released the International Meetings Statistics Report in which Dubai was named one of the top 10 destinations for international meetings!

This report reviewed over 1,000 international cities in terms of how many meetings were hosted that year. Included in the ranking were meetings organized by international organizations or by national organizations with a global impact.

Dubai has moved from spot 14 in 2015 to spot 10 in 2016, a 24% improvement! Dubai is the only city in Africa or the Middle East to be selected within the top 25 locations for international business and meetings.

Issam Kazim, the Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing concluded, “With these latest UIA rankings, it is once again clear that Dubai is now not only the regional leader in the sector, but also a major destination on the global stage for business events. We will continue to strengthen our business events offering, and strive towards transforming Dubai into a global knowledge hub.”

Director of Dubai Business Events Steen Jakobsen is also thrilled with the announcement and stated: “We have worked very hard to achieve this status, with strong support from public and private partners, including Dubai World Trade Centre, hotels, Emirates Airlines, flydubai and other meetings industry suppliers, and are aiming to continue enhancing our offering to remain competitive and further propel Dubai’s ranking in the years to come.”

This year, Dubai is set to host a number of important international events including the Dubai Association Conference (11-12 December 2017), the Academy of International Business Annual Meeting (2-5 July 2017) and the Annual Congress of the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (October 16-20 2017).

Dubai Business Events will be at EPEX this year from July 6-8th in New Dehli, India. 34 destination partners, including Tourism Boards, Convention Bureaux, Destination Management Companies, hotels and venues will introduce their offers to top, pre-profiled Indian Buyers.
