The Ultra Trail of Faroe is a 65km ultra-marathon in the Faroe Islands. Participants raced across jagged ridges and rolling green mountains in the Faroe Islands first international ultra-marathon. This ultra-trail of Faroe Islands started in the rural settlement of Leynar and finished in the grass roofed town of Tjrnuvk, on the islands of Streymoy. The first ever running, adventure and music-based festival to be held on the Faroe Islands, this invigorating adventure combined high-octane activities such as trail running, rock climbing, kayaking and mountaineering with an exquisitely remote setting. Marooned in the North Atlantic ocean in between Norway and Iceland, the Faroe Islandsprovided a dramatic backdrop to the exhilarating trail races of Utiliv Adventure Festival.

Throughout the weekend, local guides were on hand to organise adventure activities ranging from self-guided and guided hikes to packrafting, wild swims, kayaking and surfing. Sustainability was at the beating heart of the festival, which featurds a communal beach clean in partnership with a local charity Ringras and talks and films that focus on environmental issues and outdoor adventures.

There were different categories of races depending on the strength and interest – 42km or 65km race, or the relatively easier 21km or 13km races.
