The Economic Times reported that the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), which runs the Taj chain of hotels, has appointed India-born Puneet Chhatwal as chief executive officer.

Chhatwal, a fluent German speaker is the CEO of Frankfurt-headquartered Deutsche Hospitality, which owns the Steigenberger hotel chain in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“IHCL has some of the most iconic hotel properties in India and at key gateway locations across the world. I look forward to working with talented teams in IHCL and under Mr. Chandrasekaran’s leadership of the Tata Group to take this iconic company forward,” Chhatwal said.

Born and brought up in Delhi, Chhatwal attended Delhi Public School and did a degree in hotel management at IHM, Pusa Road. After completing his masters in hospitality administration from ESSEC Business School in France, he started his career with ITDC and was chief development officer of the Rezidor Hotel group, which owns the popular Radisson brand of hotels. In 2012, he was joining Deutsche Hospitality.
