Kerry Prendergast
Chair
Tourism New Zealand

Kerry Prendergrast is the former Mayor of Wellington and former Vice-President of Local Government New Zealand and holds an MBA from Victoria University. Kerry is currently Chair of the Environmental Protection Authority, Tourism New Zealand and New Zealand Film Commission.

She is a Director of Oceania Healthcare, Compass Health PHO and NZ China Council and a Trustee of the New Zealand Community Trust, National Army Museum, the Wellington Free Ambulance Board and the Victoria Foundation. Kerry is also a board member of the Phoenix Football Club and the NZ-US Council Advisory Board. She is a member of the New Zealand Conservation Authority, a shareholder of the IKE GPS and Patron of Mary Potter Hospice. Kerry was awarded a CNZM in 2011 for her services to local Government, and is a distinguished alumni of Victoria University. In July 2016, Kerry was also awarded a Lifetime Excellence Award for Outstanding Contribution to local Government.

Lisa Gardiner
International Business Events and Premium Manager
Tourism New Zealand

Tourism New Zealand is the organisation responsible for marketing New Zealand to the world as a visitor destination. Lisa Gardiner joined Tourism New Zealand in 2015 as the International Business Events and Premium Manager and is responsible for overseeing Tourism New Zealand’s activity to attract more international business delegates and premium travellers.

With staff in Auckland, Wellington, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Singapore, Sydney, Mumbai and London, Lisa manages the development and implementation of Tourism New Zealand’s Premium, International Business Events (conference and incentive) market strategies. Lisa holds a strong background in marketing, business development and digital innovation from working both domestically and internationally for global brands such as BP, Skype and Microsoft.

Leonie Ashford
Business Events Bid Manager
Tourism New Zealand

Prior to joining Tourism New Zealand, Leonie worked with Air New Zealand for 14 years. Leonie was involved in the launch of Air New Zealand Airpoints, the airline frequent flyer programme, and for 4 years was the Manager of this critical area for the airline, focusing on customer service initiatives with an emphasis on customer loyalty, retention and recognition. A move to Hong Kong as the Service Centre Director with Cathay Pacific Loyalty Programmes for 3 years ensured that Leonie has a real understanding of top quality service delivery and incentive expectations across the Asia Pacific Region. Back in New Zealand Leonie took on the role of General Manager with the Christchurch & Canterbury Convention Bureau, with a specific focus to implement marketing growth strategies to maximise the economic return for the region from conventions and incentives.

In 2011 Leonie began working as the International Bid Manager with Tourism New Zealand. The role provides an opportunity to work with people who are passionate about their field of expertise and eager to share knowledge with others around the world. Leonie is in constant liaison with the conference and incentive industry throughout New Zealand to ensure the industry meets high professional standards and new projects and challenges are supported with experienced management.
