You are looking for a new destination for your next meeting, event or incentive? Then, you should definitely consider Opatija, a town in western Croatia, which is located on the Adriatic coast southwest of Rijeka.

But why Opatija? There are many reasons…

The town has a long tradition as a convention destination with its first congress being held in 1904 (4th Congress of Austrian Balneologists). Nowadays, Opatija hosts more than 500 congresses, seminars, meetings and events every year. Many of these are national but the number of international congresses and events is increasing rapidly.

One reason for that is the variety of facilities in Opatija, where you can host small, as well as larger congresses and meetings. The main conference facilities are situated in hotels such as the Remisens Hotels & Villas, Milenij hotels, Grand Hotel Adriatic d.d. and Opatija Hotel Management’s hotels. Furthermore, there are other special venues such as Opatija’s Open-Air Theatre and Zora Cultural Centre.

A large number of restaurants and recreational facilities, diverse entertainment programmes and events of various kinds, make Opatija a great choice for congress organizers and delegates.

Another reason is the central position of Opatija, as you can easily reach it by car, plane and train. Opatija is within the radius of a 5-hour-drive from many Southern and Central European cities such as Zagreb, Ljubljana, Maribor, Venice, Milan, Vienna, Budapest, Salzburg, Munich and Belgrade. There are five international airports (Rijeka-island of Krk, Pula, Zagreb, Ljubljana and Trieste) which are located only two hours away from Opatija. By train Opatija can be reached from the railway station in Rijeka (15 km away) and Opatija-Matulji (6 km).

These are just a few reasons of why Opatija is a great choice for the MICE industry. In the next couple of weeks, you will learn more about the destination – on the tmf-dialogue newsroom and in our newsletters, of course. So please stay in touch!
