Riga is providing the ecosystem for perfect “phygital events”

With impeccable high-speed internet, access to the latest tech and multilingual staff well-versed in setting up advanced solutions, Riga is the ideal ground for bringing #Phygital events to life. Tech comes naturally to locals. Giraffe Visual, MikroTik and new generation scavenger tours like RoadGames are just some Latvian success stories. Conferences like TechChill, the LATO Riga Conference and 5G Techritory have been playing with #Phygital for years and know the format works.

In the words of Neils Kalnins, the Director of 5G Techritory

”#Phygital events are a new type of virtual experience which requires close cooperation between professionals from different fields. In order to ensure a fully immersive experience for the visitors of the event, it is important that technology professionals, designers, producers, content creators and experts who know the user experience are involved. The experience gathered from organizing the 5G “Techritory” forum proved that Riga is a great place to create such a team of professionals.”

Riga Is a Convenient and Affordable Choice

Within minutes of leaving the airport your group can be sipping cocktails with rooftop views of the medieval old town, enjoy a sunset cruise on the River Daugava or conversing at the Baltics’ biggest convention centre. With direct flights from Frankfurt, Helsinki, Amsterdam and many other hubs, Riga is an accessible choice in Northern Europe and a convenient bridge between East and West. Food, accommodation and entertainment come at pleasantly affordable rates.

Internet access is a given and never poses an additional cost. Local DMCs and PCOs will help with ideas on how to connect creatively and experience Riga both virtually and in real life. They will handle the tech, so you can focus on networking and the content of the event.

Latvia’s Public and Private Sectors Are on the Same Page

In spring 2020, the Riga Tourism Development Bureau (RTDB) ran an urban tourism hackathon. Participants proved there is no limit to Latvians’ creativity and agility. Within days, the winning teams had leapt from idea to finished product such as the wandeRiga interactive mobile city guide. If you have an idea, local suppliers will find a way to make it happen.

Continuing in the spirit of collaboration, Riga Tourism Development Bureau, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and the Latvia Convention Bureau combined forces to develop a national conference ambassador programme. In true 2020 fashion the launch event was #Phygital. The meetings and events industry is stronger than ever and interested in helping others embrace the potential of #Phygital events.
