Our city, San Diego, has everything meeting professionals could possibly dream of. It is a recognized top meetings’ destination on the West Coast of the USA and a particularly “Bright City”. Here you find a variety of innovative industries and technologies, and California also is the most advanced state in the US when it comes to Sustainable Developments.

Here are some of the most notable of our industries:

Biotech/Health: San Diego is home to a thriving biotech industry, with companies such as Illumina, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and Human Longevity leading the way in genomics research, drug innovation, and personalized medicine.

Defence and Aerospace: San Diego has a strong presence in defence and aerospace, with companies like General Atomics, and Northrop Grumman,  operating in the region. The city is also home to several military bases, including Naval Base San Diego and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

Wireless Communication: San Diego is known as the “Wireless Valley” due to the concentration of wireless communication companies in the region. Qualcomm, a global leader in 5G technology, is headquartered in San Diego.

Sustainable Energy: San Diego is committed to sustainable energy and is home to several innovative companies in the field, such as Sempra Energy, which is working on energy storage and renewable energy solutions. The city aims to using 100% renewable energy by 2035.

Overall, San Diego has a diverse and innovative economy, with strengths in biotech, defense and aerospace, wireless communication, sports innovation, and sustainable energy.

Also, water is an important issue for San Diego, which is located in a semi-arid region of California and is dependent on imported water supplies. However, San Diego has implemented several innovative solutions to address water challenges:

  1. Water Recycling: The city has developed a water recycling program that treats and purifies wastewater for use in irrigation, industrial processes, and toilet flushing.
  2. Desalination: In 2015, the Carlsbad Desalination Plant began operation, providing up to 50 million gallons of drinking water per day to San Diego and neighbouring communities.
  3. Water Conservation: San Diego has implemented various water conservation measures, such as offering rebates for water-efficient appliances, promoting drought-tolerant landscaping, and restricting outdoor watering during certain times.
  4. Stormwater Capture: San Diego is developing a stormwater capture program that allows the city to capture and store rainwater for use during dry periods.

However, as the city continues to face water supply and water quality issues, ongoing efforts are needed to ensure a reliable and sustainable water future. We will be happy to share our initiatives with you!
